Dr Adolphus Kai-tung Chau is a Senior Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist and former Chief of Service in the Department of Paediatric Cardiology, Queen Mary Hospital which is affiliated with the University of Hong Kong.
He is currently Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of the University of Hong Kong, Honorary Professor of both Beijing Anzhen Hospital, Capital Medical University and the Children's Hospital of Soochow University in China. He is also the Chairman of the Paediatric Cardiology Chapter of the Hong Kong College of Cardiology. His major work is on interventional cardiology in children with heart disease and he has been introducing new techniques into Hong Kong over the last two decades. He is also pivotal and instrumental in establishing the mechanical circulatory support program which includes extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and ventricular assist device service for children in Hong Kong.
His research interest is in long-term outcomes of congenital heart disease after cardiac surgery and interventional procedures. He is active in teaching and training of medical student, paediatric residents, paediatric cardiologist, and cardiac nurses.
Currently, Dr Chau serves as a reviewer of a number of international and local refereed journals and is an editorial board member of the Chinese Medical Journal (English version).

Medical School in 1998, under the Hong Kong Heart Foundation Fellowship award program.
His research interest includes new-device interventions, vascular brachytherapy, drug-eluting stents, stent design, bioresorbable vascular scaffold and structural heart disease interventions. He authored and co-authored over 75 scientific publications, book chapters and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals, which included Circulation, JACC and JAMA.
Dr. Kwok has actively participated in virtually all major live case conferences in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region as international faculty, case operator and speaker for over ten years. He has been invited faculty member of TCT (Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics), the world-largest interventional cardiology live demonstration conference, since 2002. He has won over 15 challenging case awards and Best abstract awards in international and local live case conferences, which included tough cases in chronic total occlusion and complex adult congenital heart disease interventions.
Dr. Kwok serves on the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology as an advisory board member. He pioneered the use of a number of novel devices in Hong Kong and China. He has been principal investigator in several first-in-human studies. Prof. Jeffrey Popma (Harvard Medical School) and Dr. Kwok implanted the first drug-eluting stent in Hong Kong in 2002. Dr. Kwok implanted the first commercially available Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold in Hong Kong in 2012 and the first Magnesium Bioresorbable Scaffold in Asia-Pacific region in 2016.
